Citrix Terminal Services Printing
Plus Technologies has developed a relationship with triCerat. triCerat is a leader in the Citrix/Terminal Services printing space with their Simply Printing product which reduces the labor associated with driver management. While Simplify Print reduces administrative overhead with Citrx/TS printing there is an important limitation to the solution – there is no advanced print spooling and no bi-directional communication with printers. This means no print confirmation, re-routing, restarting, or other print capabilities.
That is where the OM Plus solution comes in. By combining Simplify Print and OM Plus print spooling users can get the best of both worlds. OM Plus resides in conjunction with the Simplify Printing on the print server. OM Plus has a port monitor that receives jobs that would normally be sent to the native Windows print subsystem. Then based on joint product integration efforts, OM Plus receives the user name from the Simplify Printing server so it can augment the print job data. OM Plus proceeds to process and deliver the job to the printer. OM Plus maintains a connection with the printer during the entire print process, continually receiving feedback from the printer on the status of the document on a page-by-page basis. This way OM Plus can keep track of where every page is in relation to the printing process until the document is in the output tray.
Should an interruption occur, OM Plus is configured to re-start the job on the next page, avoiding costly errors and the aggravation of having to start over. The software then notifies administrators of the print problem and/or redirects the job to an alternative printer. OM Plus also has the ability to capture all audit data, bringing full circle the idea of elegant print recovery and delivery.
