More and more employees are working from home. However, working from home can present corporate print issues. In some cases, work-at-home employees need to print documents at home that are created on systems at the office. In other cases, employees need to print documents created at home at the office. Both these cases can be problematic.
Plus Technologies has been providing enhanced print solutions for the on-prem SAP environment for many years. We thought it might be helpful to share some background information about the SAP print environment.
Years ago, the corporate computing environment consisted of mainframe computers (host), dumb terminals (workstations), and line printers. Then, in the late 70s and early 80s, the use of computers started to migrate away from the centralized, mainframe environment, where most applications were batch-based, to a more distributed configuration using personal desktop computers.
We have been informed by some of our customers that our competitors are making statements about Plus Technologies that are not always accurate. In a competitive sales environment such as the OMS market that may not be too surprising. However, we would like to take this opportunity to share a few specific examples and clarify what the competition is saying wrong about us.
One cannot always take what the competitors say about Plus Technologies as being accurate. We encourage our prospects and customers to call us to verify the information they are being given. They can trust us to give them the truth (good or bad) and prove it through demonstrations and free evaluations.
OM Plus Stats Manager (SM) – Print Metrics and Statistics
OM Plus customers are taking advantage of OM Plus Stats Manager to capture the who + what + when print statistics. OM Stats Manager (SM) is a printing solutions application that enables organizations to analyze and understand the who, what, when, and where of printing, copying, faxing, and scanning in their enterprise.
By collecting print spooling data Stats Manager is able to provide user based print metrics in addition to device based data. This user based metric allows organizations to understand who is printing, what they are printing, when they are printing, what application the documents are coming from, and even the titles of the documents.
Unlike other printing solutions, Stats Manager provides scheduled reports as well as an ad-hoc query capability to enable users to search for the data as they require it.
Plus Technologies has been asked if OM Plus integrates with MFP’s in order to facilitate pull-printing (sometimes called print release). The answer is yes, OM Plus MPD (My-Print-Delivery) does integrate with printers and MFP’s to gather card reader data and to facilitate print delivery.
OM Plus currently has an integrated solution with several vendors including Lexmark, HP, Xerox, Ricoh, Sharp and others. OM Plus also provides integration with Imprivata which adds an authentication capability to the pull print environment. There are several pull print workflows provided by OM Plus MPD to suit a number of customer needs including a shared print solution called SQR (secure Queue Release) that is perfect for emergency room environments which is unique in the industry. In addition, OM Plus provides optional plain paper Rx printing solutions which helps our healthcare customers save cost.
With the Fourth of July this upcoming Saturday we take time to reflect. This year has been tough for many individuals, families, businesses, and the country. Covid-19 has greatly impacted our country, and here at Plus Technologies we hope all of us continue to be safe practice social distancing.
When the Declaration of Independence was signed 240 years ago, 56 patriots pledged their lives and their honor to defend our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Their legacy lives on today through generations of Americans who have made that same pledge to boldly stand up against tyranny, oppression, and persecution.
Those who serve in our armed forces, and their families, have given so much to defend the freedom we often take for granted. Today, as we celebrate our nation’s birth, let us honor their service and strive to be worthy of their tremendous sacrifices.
In addition, we would like to wish all our customers, employees, partners, and friends a happy Fourth of July. We appreciate all that you do to help us succeed in the output management sw, managed print, tamper resistant print, pull printing, and statistics markets.
