Large Healthcare Provider Switched to OM Plus for High Availability Print System

Miamisburg, Ohio, November 19, 2009 – Plus Technologies has successfully implemented an OM Plus print spooling system for a large Cerner Millennium healthcare customer, located in Ontario Canada. This teaching hospital has three locations, approximately 1,000 beds, supports 750 physicians and has 1,500 printers. As the customer migrated their Cerner application from VMS to open systems they needed a scalable, highly available print spooling system. After evaluating several alternatives including their existing VMS spooling solution they selected OM Plus from Plus Technologies.

The OM Plus system is implemented in a highly available, clustered configuration providing maximum uptime. OM Plus seamlessly integrated with the Cerner application without requiring application level changes and provides print job delivery to over 1,500 printers throughout the enterprise. OM Plus provides server level and printer level fail-over. OM Plus provides bi-directional communications with the printers to confirm actual print deliver to the output tray. Should print failures occur fail-over, help desk alerting, and notification process is enacted. The customer is using the intuitive OM Plus user interface to monitor the health of the entire organization’s print environment including print jobs and print devices.
