Plus Technologies announces “PRINTER BASED-JOB RELEASE”9 Nov, 2009
Industry leading Enterprise Print Software provider releases new Solution
Miamisburg, Ohio, November 9, 2009 – Plus Technologies announces a new solution based on its industry leading OM Plus Software Suite. Plus Technologies’ Printer Based – Job Release, allows users to walk up to printers, identify themselves, view a list of their print jobs and select/release their jobs for printing from suitably enabled Lexmark printer. With this capability organizations can:
– Improve confidentiality – eliminate documents ‘waiting’ for pickup.
– Improve security/compliance – in healthcare and financial environments
– Mobile print delivery – retrieve print from printers where you are
– Go Green – reduce forgotten/unclaimed documents in the output tray
The system consists of ‘printer resident’ software as well as an OM Plus Server based software. The system does not require any workstation installed software nor does it require any changes to the way users print. No “Print Release” print queue is needed.
OM Plus can collect/hold all users print jobs, a user group’s jobs, or use OM Plus Context Based Delivery option to dynamically capture just the print associated with a specific business function/process.
When users want to print, they identify themselves to a “Printer Release” capable Lexmark printer or multi-functional device via card swipe, proximity card, or keypad entry. The software in the printer will then authenticate the user via Active Directory lookup, and display their jobs available for printing.
The user may select one or multiple jobs for printing. Those jobs are then released from the OM Plus Server and printed on the printer. The user may also re-direct jobs to alternate devices, or reprint documents that have been archived for them. In the case of a jam or print failure the user may reprint the job or re-direct the job.
Mike Visser, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Plus Technologies said that ‘this new solution includes a printer resident application connected to OM Plus. This gives the user a great deal of capability that was never before available. We are very excited to provide this solution to our customers. Print Based release should be very attractive to organizations that work with confidential information such as social security numbers, financial records and health care information”.
