The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Statement

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) (2016/679) is a regulation written by the European Parliament. This regulation is intended to strengthen the protection of ‘end user’ personal data within the European Union (EU). The regulation is expected to become effective as of May 25th, 2018.

GDPR and OM Plus Delivery Manager

OM Plus does not accept, capture or store our customer’s end user information. OM Plus does not create or alter the documents which may contain end user information. Documents are created on other systems and merely handed off  to OM Plus for routing and delivery. For that reason we do not believe the GDPR rules apply to OM Plus.

Furthermore, OM Plus is deployed totally within our customer’s network (on premise solution only). Our customer’s documents and our customer’s end user data is not seen, shared, or handled by Plus Technologies. Nor does Plus Technologies have access to these systems except under express control of our customers to resolve technical issues with the software.

That said, Plus Technologies understands that OM Plus’s primary job is to route documents from their source to printers and that these documents could potentially contain end user information. For that reason, we take precautions to ensure that the documents OM Plus routes are managed as securely as possible while under control of the OM Plus system. There are also features that can help our customers manage in a GDPR environment.

For example:

• Plus Technologies’ OM Plus utilizes a ‘security system’ that limits the users that have access to the system, the functions that users can perform, and the documents users are allowed to view.
• OM Plus selectively utilizes encryption technologies to limit the visibility of document content.
• OM Plus utilizes https and TLS when connecting to third party databases (eg ldap).
• Additionally, OM Plus provides pull print capabilities via the My-Print-Delivery (MPD) option to authenticate the users at the printer and reduce the possibility of unattended documents laying in the printer output bin.
• OM Plus provides tamper resistant print capabilities including pantographs to help prevent improper copying of, or tampering with documents.
• Also, OM Plus provides the capability of adding a header and/or footer to each page of documents which includes the identity of the person printing the document, date printed, page of pages and more.
• OM Plus provides an option called Stats Manager, that identifies which who printed what document, the title of the document, the device it printed on, the date it printed, the number of pages and more.
