My-Print-Delivery (MPD) Supports HP OXP 1.6 and 1.7 Based Devices

Plus Technologies‘ My-Print-Delivery (MPD) pull-print software based on HP’s OXP version 1.7 API will support both 1.6 and 1.7 based HP devices. This is significant because the 1.7 API (as designed) is intended to only support 1.7 devices. By developing MPD print release software App to run on 1.6 devices it greatly expands the market for OM Plus print software. HP 1.6 devices pre- date 1.7 devices and goes back to manufacture dates in 2010. Many 1.6 devices are still in use today.

In addition, Plus Technologies has improved the card reader interface on HP Devices by eliminating the HP embedded ‘Send’ button. This reduces user errors and greatly enhances the end user experience. In the base design the HP system, the end user swipes their card, the card data is read, and the user is presented a screen asking the user to push the ‘Send’ button. The Send button sends the card data to the server side of the print release App.

However, if the card data is not available to the App when the user presses the ‘Send’ button the function fails, the user is kicked-out of the App, and has to start the process over again by swiping their card. The problem is that there can be a significant delay between the card data being available to the App. Users tend to hit the ‘Send’ button before the data is available which will cause the users to be kicked out and start the process all over again from the beginning. This failed process can frustrate users and slow down the print release.
Plus Technologies has resolved this issue by eliminating the ‘Send’ button entirely and eliminating the possibility of this failure.
