OM Plus Implemented at New York City Healthcare Organization

Plus Technologies has just helped a well known cancer treatment healthcare organization based in NYC that implemented an OM Plus Delivery Manager (print management) and My-Print-Delivery (pull print) solution. This new pull print solution provides document security and substantially reduces the number of required print queues for printing in their new building. Additionally, it reduces system administration efforts as well as the number of printers and associated consumables.

The solution presents users with one pull print queue for laser printers and one pull print queue for label printers for the whole building. Now clinicians can roam the hospital with their mobile devices, meet with patients wherever it is convenient, and submit print jobs as necessary to those two queues. When the clinicians are ready, they can go to any convenient printer and retrieve their jobs with a simple badge tap for authentication. My Print Delivery knows who they are and what printer they are at and releases the print jobs at the appropriate printer.
This simple secure pull print solution provides security for the print jobs and removes the need for users to remember the names of the various printers throughout the building. It protects patient information and privacy by only printing the documents when users are physically at the printer. The solution ingests print jobs from multiple applications including Epic, Allscripts, Forms on Demand, and more. It manages both back-end and front-end print workflows, which enables the appropriate print jobs to be printed through the same secure pull print process.
The pull print solution is integrated with Imprivata’s digital identity solution API. It accesses the existing name and badge database information utilized for clinician login at workstations or mobile devices and uses it for pull print authentication. This results in one less place to build and maintain user and badge information.
This solution also provides print management capabilities for immediate printing, centralized administration, a robust helpdesk toolset, and more. Also, via OM Plus Stats Manager, it collects and analyzes the who, what, when and where information about print usage which is used for auditing and fleet optimization.
