OM Plus My-Print- Delivery (MPD) Version 3.1 – Now Available

A new version of OM Plus My-Print-Delivery (MPD) is now available. As of September 21st Plus Technologies will begin shipping version 3.1 of MPD.

Customers with valid support contracts will be eligible to upgrade to this new release without any additional license fees.

OM Plus My-Print-Delivery (MPD) software is Plus Technologies solution for pull printing. This type of solution is also known by other names such as: print release, pull-print, Follow the User style print. The idea behind the concept is to improve printing efficiencies by holding user documents in the print system until the user is authenticated then releases the document while physically at the printer or multifunction device itself. There are many benefits for implementing OM Plus MPD such as: saving pages printed, reducing toner consumption and cost, and increasing document security.

MPD pull-print works by allowing the user to print documents through their usual print experience. When printed, the document is routed to OM Plus Delivery Manager where the job is held. When the user is ready to print they go to the device of their choice, swipe their card, receive authentication (including Imprivata), then the job is routed to the printer. This process ensures no print jobs/documents are left unattended.

The new version of MPD is focussed primarily on improvements in administration and security. Specific features/enhancements included in 3.1 include:

  • Structural improvements to the server side component of MPD.
  • Streamlined installation/configuration process.
  • Data encryption of MPD transactions.
  • Communications over secure socket.
  • Improved authentication engine to better support Imprivata and multiple domains.
  • Support for Sharp and Ricoh devices.
  • Updates to Lexmark certifications.
  • Improvements to the user experience at the device.
  • Continued support for printer based user authentication including Imprivata and CAC/PIV.
  • Migration tools are available for existing MPD customers.
