OM Plus Print Release on Konica Minolta Demonstrated

In order to make a pull-print (print release) solution work an embedded app is required inside the printer or MFP. That app needs to read and accept information from the users badge/card. Then pass that user data to OM Plus for authentication, accept print jobs routed to it from OMP, display the jobs on the panel, accept user input from the panel, print the jobs selected by the user, and return print status information back to OM Plus for monitoring and OM Plus Stats Manager (SM).

Plus Technologies has developed and deployed such device embedded apps for many print vendors such as Lexmark, HP, Xerox, Dell, and Ricoh (coming soon). Until recently Plus Technologies had no such solution for Konica Minolta. However, now through our partnership with Pharos this capability in a Konica Minolta device has been achieved and demonstrated at a customer site.

In this specific example the user is a healthcare organization running Cerner EMR. While this was demonstrated at a healthcare organization this process could work in any industry or setting. Cerner EMR created the print job in the normal way – the job was seamlessly ingested by OM Plus DM including the username associated with the job where it was held in the system until the user requested it from the KM device.

In the KM device was a Pharos embedded app that performed the functions described above and communicated with the host OM Plus system – that reconciled the end user name and routed the appropriate jobs to the KM device for printing.

In this way OM Plus can be used in conjunction with Pharos to provide Konica Minolta customers print release solution.
