US Court System Licenses Print Software from Plus Technologies

The Administrative Office for US Court System has recently acquired Plus Technologies OM Plus print software. The Administrative Office is responsible for providing the technology and services required by the US Justice Department. The Justice Department had a need for an automated solution for fax delivery, and they were experiencing Windows print spooling crashes, and having print reliability issues.

This customer found OM Plus via a web search and contacted Plus Technologies to see if we could meet their stringent requirements. These requirements included the need for some customization of the base OM Plus product. A major point of differentiation for Plus Technologies is our willingness to take on custom requests and our ability to develop solutions quickly. We worked with US Courts to meet their requirements and develop a solution that works for them. US Courts was able to thoroughly test the solution on house before committing to purchase.

A key requirement included the ability to print faxes coming from a central fax system (file server) to multiple printer end points. The incoming faxes are in PDF format and are accompanied by an XML file containing routing information. These jobs are ingested by OM Plus, the xml data captured and translated into routing rules, delivered to the network printers, and delivery to the output tray confirmed.

The OM Plus print delivery solution runs as a virtual machine in a VMware environment, is compatible with Microsoft Active Directory, and is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 Server.

Other OM Plus features of the solution

  • Delivery and confirmation to  a wide variety of printers and multi-function devices from a number of manufacturers
  • Monitor a directory structure and sub-directories on  Windows 2012 R2 servers for new files to be processed
  • Parses and routes files based on a secondary XML file containing associated metadata
  • Converts  PDF files into Postscript format to ensure printer compatibility
  • Verify completion of print job to output tray.
  • Archives original files to a directory for retrieval as necessary
  • Auto fails over to a secondary printer if the primary printer is inaccessible
  • Sends email notifications via SMTP in the event of a delivery failure
