Cloud Printing Service – Enhanced Printing Features not Available for all Documents

You may have noticed that there have been a number of MPS (Managed Print Services) vendors and printer OEM’s announcing “cloud printing services”. In their announcements they have made statements that imply cloud printing can manage the print delivery needs of all types of corporate documents. For example, Konica Minolta recently announced that their global Cloud Printing Service can manage the “total print” environment of its customers.

That claim may not be completely accurate. While we are sure the cloud print service is quite robust it would not always be able to provide the advanced Output Management” type functions for documents created and printed by “back-end” systems like ERP’s, EMR’s WMS, Accounting and other server based systems. Frequently these backend systems need advanced print delivery (eg print spooling) features such as bi-directional communications with printers, automated fail-over, load balancing, pull-print, integrations with authentications systems (eg Imprivata), the need to capture end user names for statistics and pull print, bundling/kitting of documents, intelligent routing, tamper resistant print, etc. These capabilities may not be available in a Cloud Print environment.

If the features listed above are needed for backend documents then in many cases an Output Management Software (OMS) system like OM Plus Delivery Manager would still be required.

President Visits Plus Technologies Customer

Last week President Trump paid a visit to the Whirlpool facility in Clyde, Ohio. He toured the Whirlpool production facility there and was able to see how the plant operated.

In that plant Whirlpool uses Plus Technologies’ OM Plus Delivery Manager (DM) software to manage the delivery of documents created by their ‘backend manufacturing system’ to the printers on the line.

Many of our manufacturing customers such as Whirlpool create documents such as pick lists, manifests, bills of lading, and shipping labels.

Competitors Making False Claims

We have been informed by some of our customers that our competitors are making statements about Plus Technologies that are not always accurate. In a competitive sales environment such as the OMS market that may not be too surprising. However, we would like to take this opportunity to share a few specific examples and clarify what the competition is saying wrong about us.

One cannot always take what the competitors say about Plus Technologies as being accurate. We encourage our prospects and customers to call us to verify the information they are being given. They can trust us to give them the truth (good or bad) and prove it through demonstrations and free evaluations.

OM Plus Output Management/Print Solutions for Epic and Enterprise

Plus Technologies has been providing Epic output management solutions (OMS) for over 12 years and have a large Epic installed base using our OM Plus Delivery Manager (DM) print management software. We have implemented our OM Plus Epic OMS solutions in organizations ranging from one of the largest nationwide Epic users to smaller regional users. We work closely with Epic to make sure our solutions work properly, are current, add functionality, scalability, and reliability. Additionally, our software has been available in the Epic App Orchard, since they released Epic 2018 with the new print architecture and print related API technology.

In healthcare environments, fast, reliable printing is critical for business operations. Users need a powerful system that provides robust printing and is easy to implement and maintain. Our solutions provide a single platform for managing the enterprise print environment. They provide significantly more functionality which helps improve print operation efficiencies, so jobs print when and where they are supposed to.

OM Plus Delivery Manager (DM) is the core building block of our solutions. It ingests data from many source systems and utilizes a rules-based engine to manage, monitor, and deliver jobs across complex LANs/WANs to many destinations and types. It provides a centralized administrative platform for the management and support of the print environment. Our solutions help eliminate the need for multiple staff, skill sets, and the collection of data from disparate systems, to troubleshoot print problems. They significantly reduce the time to create queues, architect print workflows and support printing, so users have more time to spend on patient care.

Plus Technologies and Lexmark Awarded Large Rx Printing Contract

OMPlus TRP, Plus Technologies and Lexmark Awarded Large Rx Printing Contract, TRP, Tamper, Resistant, Print, Output Management, Plus Technologies, OM Plus, RxPlus Technologies and Lexmark Awarded Large Rx Printing Contract

Plus Technologies’ partner Lexmark has won a Managed Print Services (MPS) contract at a large South Carolina healthcare organization. A key requirement of the contract is the provisioning of tamper resistant print software for prescription (Rx) printing on 1,250 plain paper printers. By using plain paper instead of pre-printed forms the customer is able to save a significant amount of cost while retaining the security features required for Rx.

Plus Technologies will be providing the tamper resistant software required for this project with its OM Plus TRP system. The Plus Technologies’ software beat out a competitive solution from Troy as the print quality of the Plus Technologies’ software on the Lexmark devices was superior.

In this environment, the OM Plus software ingests output from the customer’s Epic EMR system, parses it, applies the tamper resistant pantograph and micro-print features and delivers the finished print job to the appropriate printers. OM Plus also converses bi-directionally with the printers to confirm the print occurred properly and the documents are in the output tray.

By teaming up in this project, Lexmark and Plus Technologies were able to differentiate the solution from competition. Thus securing the bid.
