Plus Technologies’ Tamper Resistant Print (TRP) is used to prevent the unauthorized copying of sensitive printed data and obviate the need for expensive pre-printed forms and laborious security procedures (like locking printers in a secure room).
TRP is used by numerous healthcare organizations to streamline prescription (Rx) printing. OM Plus solution is called URx and it is used so that organizations can avoid buying pre-printed forms and prevent unauthorized copying. Just this month Plus Technologies received multiple purchase orders for this solution from hospitals.

Cloud vs On-Premise: On-Premise is Still Going Strong
We recently came across a study published by Aberdeen Research group that is focussed on the growth of Cloud Solutions. Given all the recent headlines on the rapid growth of Cloud Solutions we were a bit surprised that the Aberdeen paper found that on-premise solutions are still going strong.
Below is an excerpt from the Aberdeen paper:
“Every day, one comes across statements or truisms that people take as common knowledge but that are actually wrong. For years now, we’ve heard the constant predictions that everything would be moved to the public cloud and that businesses, and especially small to mid-sized ones, would no longer need any on-premises infrastructure at all. But these predictions have proven to be inaccurate. In fact, Aberdeen research has shown that, over the last three years, organizations have actually increased their use of on-premises servers and infrastructure. Since 2018 deployments using private cloud and on-premises systems have nearly doubled.
Tied to all of these changes is the move to hybrid cloud, which is enabling organizations to get the most out of both their public cloud resources and their on-premises server capabilities. And in response to all of these changes, businesses came to the realization that the previous driver to put every workload on the Cloud was no longer the best strategy. In fact, many organizations have put this movement into reverse, and have moved workloads from the public cloud and back to on-premises implementations.”
A new feature found in OM Plus My Print Delivery, the powerful pull printing solution from Plus Technologies, allows users or their surrogates in clinical settings to authenticate with a card/badge tap and release print jobs associated with designated print queues. This feature is called Secure Queue Release (SQR).
We were recently asked by a potential reseller: when should they try to sell OM Plus? What are the circumstances when OM Plus is the right solution? When should the partner call us?
These are excellent questions from a reseller/partner perspective – OM Plus can solve numerous output management related problems for organizations across numerous industries, however we can define a common theme for ‘good fit use cases”. OM Plus is enterprise output management software (EOM) that helps organizations reduce operational costs, streamline document workflow processes, and improve print reliability and security. While OM Plus can ingest documents from numerous sources including mainframes, servers, and end user workstations the best fit for OM Plus is when the documents are created on what we call “backend systems”
We define “Backend Systems” to mean systems that run enterprise apps such as ERP, WMS, EMS, accounting software, and others. These systems create documents that are needed for the organization to run smoothly. Backend documents usually does not mean documents created on user workstations such as spreadsheets, words, docs, etc.
OM Plus My-Print- Delivery (MPD) Version 3.1 – Now Available
A new version of OM Plus My-Print-Delivery (MPD) is now available. As of September 21st Plus Technologies will begin shipping version 3.1 of MPD.
Customers with valid support contracts will be eligible to upgrade to this new release without any additional license fees.
OM Plus My-Print-Delivery (MPD) software is Plus Technologies solution for pull printing. This type of solution is also known by other names such as: print release, pull-print, Follow the User style print. The idea behind the concept is to improve printing efficiencies by holding user documents in the print system until the user is authenticated then releases the document while physically at the printer or multifunction device itself. There are many benefits for implementing OM Plus MPD such as: saving pages printed, reducing toner consumption and cost, and increasing document security.
OM Plus Delivery Manager (DM) Version 3.1 – Now Available
A new version of OM Plus Delivery Manager (DM) is now available. As of September 20th Plus Technologies will begin shipping version 3.1 of DM. The bulk of the changes to DM improve system security as well as simplify installation and operations. Customers with valid support contracts will be eligible to upgrade to this new release without any additional license fees.
OM Plus DM is advanced, intelligent print spooler management software. Delivery Manager seamlessly ingests print jobs from enterprise systems and delivers them to printers, multi-function devices, fax software, email systems, and more. Rarely, changes are needed to existing ERP/EMR/WMS or other “backend systems”.
Delivery Manager (DM) provides print job routing, confirmation of delivery, load balancing, automated failover, and many other administrative features. OM Plus can also provide features such as My-Print-Delivery (MPD) for pull-printing, Tamper Resistant Print for Rx printing on plain paper, i-Sat for secure/plug & play internet print delivery for remote locations, Stats Manager for print/copy/fax/scan usage analysis, Fleet Manager for device/consumables management, and more.
OM Plus My-Print-Delivery (MPD) is Plus Technologies product for pull-printing. Pull-printing is also known as print release or in some cases Follow the User style print. My-Print-Delivery improves printing efficiency and security by holding a user’s “printed” documents on a secure print server until the user walks up to a convenient printer and authenticates/releases their jobs. As well as “Follow the User style print.”
In particular, we have many customers from a number of different industries that use the MPD feature. In addition to reducing overall print volume therefore saving cost, each user has their own unique story and value proposition. By all means, please contact us for more information.
A healthcare company recently ordered Plus Technologies’ Imprivata Certified Integration to add as an option to their existing OM Plus My-Print-Delivery (MPD) system.
With Plus Technologies certified Imprivata module this customer can now have their MPD pull-print solution integrated with Imprivats’s OneSign solution. When the user is at the printing device OM Plus MPD will seamlessly communicate with the Imprivata OneSign system to provide authentication and access management. Once authenticated by Imprivata the OM Plus MPD system will route the end user’s print jobs to the appropriate device.
This pull-print methodology along with end user authentication improves document security. MPD when combined with other OM Plus features such as user permissions, tls, encryption, and print audit tools makes OM Plus printing very secure.
Plus Technologies has been providing Enterprise Output Management (EOM) solutions to healthcare organizations for many years. Our solutions include OM Plus Delivery Manager to provide centralized management, confirmed print, advanced routing, and reliable delivery of EMR output to printers and MFPs. OM Plus TRP replaces paper based forms with plain paper Rx printing. OM Plus MPD provides a variety of pull-print solutions to reduce cost and increase security. Also, OM Plus Stats provides detail and statistics needed to audit the print process.
OM Plus will help connect back end systems and print devices to eliminate gaps in information flow. Electronic health records (EHRs) contain a lot of information that clinicians use to deliver patient care. But it isn’t always easy for workers to print admission forms, patient wristbands, treatment notes and other types of output on the right device — especially when they’re all coming from different host systems.
Print information reliably regardless of which system you’re using, and gather output for a single patient —from multiple users on multiple systems — and route it to a single printer when you need it. Improve productivity by reducing the time and effort that workers spend formatting, producing and finding documents. Help reduce the risk of lost PHI on paper with just-in-time printing while you wait.
Plus Technologies started in the print spooler business in 1994. Since then we have continually added to our software portfolio and for the past several years have become a leading vendor in the Enterprise Output Management (EOM) market with our OM Plus products. A recent IDC paper identified the value of EOM in today’s market. Some snippets from their paper include the following.
The proliferation of 3rd Platform technologies (cloud, mobile, big data, and social media) continues to foster significant changes in the ways that employees work with information. Knowledge workers are capturing, creating, consuming, and sharing massive amounts of content across multiple applications and device types, forcing businesses to find a proper balance between the need for information access and protecting business-critical content. Adding to these complexities is the fact that business information is now stored across a host of on-premises and offsite applications and document repositories, including information management systems, content sharing and collaboration solutions, local and network file folders, email, and hardcopy documents.
