Baptist Health Selects OM Plus Delivery Manager Spooling Software for Epic EMR Printing8 Dec, 2011
Dayton, Ohio, December 8, 2011 – Plus Technologies is pleased to announce that Baptist Health, Arkansas’s largest healthcare system, has selected its OM Plus Delivery Manager (DM) print spooling software to enhance its printing operations, which include output from its EpicCare EMR application.
In healthcare environments, OM Plus DM Print Software unifies the print processes from multiple software applications including EpicCare printing, into a single print system reducing administration overhead. OM Plus DM implementations in the EpicCare print environment start with the “DM Agent” app located on the EPIC, EPS, and Cache servers. The DM Agent collects the print jobs and forwards them to the OM Plus Print Server for the next steps in the process. The DM Agent also receives information back from the DM Print Server to provide status feedback on the delivery status of the print to the EpicCare application.
The OM Plus DM print server receives Epic ERTF, pdf, and text jobs from the DM Agent along with user ID and other information about the job. The User ID is critical if the “My Print Delivery” feature is in use. If format transformations are required, OM Plus DM will initiate them. Tray commands are added to the print stream at this time, as needed. OM Plus DM will then deliver these jobs to the appropriate destinations and provide ‘print confirmation’ all the way to the tray. Other features such as re-print, load balancing and fail-over are available. In addition, all print jobs and print queues can be viewed/managed from a single web based console.
Some of the benefits of OM Plus Delivery Manager in EpicCare environments include:
- Reducing the number of queues to be managed
- Centralization of all print streams to minimize administration overhead
- Confirmation of print to the device and output tray
- Job tracking and logging to improve trouble shooting
- Increase print system uptime and scalability
- Enables “My Print Delivery” printing
- Provides re-routing and re-printing capabilities
- Enables pdf transformations
- Manages tray commands
Baptist Health is taking advantage of Plus Technologies’ usage-based licensing/pricing model. In this model, Baptist Health does not need to buy the software up front. Instead, Baptist Health pays based on its use of the software on a monthly basis. This licensing model reduces financial risk and is very cost effective.
