President Visits Plus Technologies Customer
Last week President Trump paid a visit to the Whirlpool facility in Clyde, Ohio. He toured the Whirlpool production facility there and was able to see how the plant operated.
In that plant Whirlpool uses Plus Technologies’ OM Plus Delivery Manager (DM) software to manage the delivery of documents created by their ‘backend manufacturing system’ to the printers on the line.
Many of our manufacturing customers such as Whirlpool create documents such as pick lists, manifests, bills of lading, and shipping labels.
Delivery Manager (DM) ingests these documents from the host system that creates them, groups them into packets, and routes them to the appropriate printer on the production line. DM then provides bidirectional communication with the printers to confirm that the device is functioning and the documents printed properly. Should a print failure occur DM will re-print the documents on a backup printer to ensure the production line keeps running at full capacity and deadlines are met.
In addition, DM is used to “load balance’ print output across multiple print devices in order to increase capacity when it is needed. DM provides troubleshooting tools to diagnose and resolve print issues should they occur. DM also notifies the Help Desk when these issues arise.
As it turns out Whirlpool orders have increased during the pandemic and they are able to keep up with this rising demand partially because of the added reliability and capacity provided by OM Plus. We are proud that the President chose to visit one of our customers and had the opportunity to see this efficient operation in person.
